WebPenrhiwceiber in the Cynon valley is effectively an extension of Mountain Ash. The area grew following the opening of the Penrikybr colliery in in 1878 which by 1913 was employing 2000 men. The colliery closed in 1985. Thew clock tower in the town is a memorial to those who were killed during the First World War.
