I had a set of Heddman Headers (the ones guaranteed to fit without a hammer) installed on my 454 when it was in my 78 2wheel drive Silverado. I installed the 454 and the headers in my 80 GMC 4x and I had to put a very slight crease in one header pipe to get it to clear the motor mount.

It all depends on what you want to end up with and what you are using the car for as well. Many want to keep the stock look...in that case you wouldn't be installing a big block anyway.
