WebbA wound is an injury that breaks the skin or other body tissue. Wounds can be open, with broken skin and exposed body tissue, or closed when there is damage to tissue under intact skin. Nearly everyone will experience an open wound at some point in their lives, but the level of severity will range significantly depending on the type: WebbImpaired wound healing may be attributed to defects in the normal tissue response to injury and to poor treatment of the wound. Chronic wounds are defined as those that do not appear to follow the normal healing process in less than 4 weeks. These wounds are most commonly located on the lower leg, foot, and pelvic region.
