After receiving a fellowship to Yaddo, an artist’s retreat in Saratoga Springs, New York, Gary was encouraged to quit his teaching career and focus his energy on painting. WebLocated in the Historic Ramsey School, Gary Bowling's is a one of a kind House of Art that features artists from all over Appalachia. The gallery is full of unique and interesting art pieces that span all genres. The Ramsey Elementary School was completed and opened in 1926 and was the primary elementary school for the City of Bluefield more than 60-years.
