WebIt is dominated by 8,677 foot Crater Peak, the highest point on the Lassen National Forest, and is a reminder of the glacial action that eroded Thousand Lakes Volcano and created the many small lakes and ponds scattered throughout. The lowest point in the Wilderness occurs at the base of the volcano at 5,546 feet. WebBurney is home to the famous McArthur-Burney Falls State Park and a magnificent water that President Theodore Roosevelt called “the eighth wonder of the world.” An hour to the west of Burney Falls is the charming town of McCloud and stunning McCloud Falls – a series of three distinct waterfalls that are linked by a hiking trail or scenic drive.
